Buckle up, I’m Gabriella!

Hey, hi, hello!

My name is Gabriella M. Lindsay, and I am a Lifestyle Blogger.

Kinda.

I mean, I’m a writer, who writes in a blog format, and focuses on things that pertain to my life.

But in many ways, I’m so totally NOT a lifestyle blogger.

Just check the aesthetic. Totally wrong for a lifestyle blogger, amirite?

But that’s kinda the point.

See, I’ve been blogging since 2016, when my family made the life-changing decision to move from our Chicago-area home to the beautifully historic Mexican city of Mazatlan.

In an effort to share what we were experiencing and to build an online business that could sustain us abroad, I started writing about our journey and our day-to-day life.

Oh, and we started a YouTube Channel too.

I dipped off the writing for a while as my copywriting, launch strategy, and brand clarity coaching business began to take off and focused on only writing for my clients and for major publications like Thrive Global and CNBC Make It.

But after floundering around for a few months, feeling more or less fulfilled financially but not personally, I realized the thing I was missing was writing for me and for those for whom my experience and expertise could provide encouragement.

So, here we are. At the beginning of yet another new journey.

One where I find myself labeling this a Lifestyle Blog penned by a Lifestyle Blogger who is intent on not actually being a prototypical Lifestyle Blogger because a prototypical Lifestyle Blogger is not who I naturally am.

Now say that five times fast!

Who Am I?

I am an inner-city girl, raised by a single mom in a 1-bedroom apartment on the Northside of Chicago, who was one of a few little Black girls (and the only little mixed girl), in a gifted classroom primarily comprised of upper-middle class kids who hailed from families featuring a mom, a dad, a brother/sister, a dog, two cars for their built-in garage, and a white picket fence.

I went to public university on a variety of needs-based scholarships and grants, met my now husband when I was 20, moved cross-country to attend graduate school, moved back home to teach, get married, make babies, and eventually move my entire family abroad because I thought it could be cool.

That’s the short version.

There’s SO much more.

And now that I’m a Lifestyle Blogger, I’ll get to tell you all about it in another post.

(So stay tuned!)

Why Am I Here?

Don’t worry, I’m not getting existential here. I just mean, why am I writing this?

Well, mainly because I want to. And because life is short. And because it brings me joy.

But also because I feel like…

1) There’s this disconnect between the super polished subject matter and aesthetic appearance of many lifestyle blogs that makes doing something like this inaccessible to women who do not consider themselves ‘great’ writers or ‘highly’ photogenic.

2) Even though AI is taking over, there’s an absolute beauty and relatability that comes from real human writing, and I imagine there are some people (hopefully you!) who still crave that type of thing…human connection through storytelling and shared experiences.

What Can You Expect?

Well…me!

I’ll be writing about things I see or do, sharing experiences from my time living abroad, giving insight into what it’s like to build an online business while raising three fun-loving kids and an active husband, posting pics from our beautiful island home (for now!) of Antigua & Barbuda in the Caribbean West Indies, and dropping some of my favorite recipes – mostly baking.

I will also likely be adding some affiliate links in my articles (cuz ya girl’s gotta make a living), but only for stuff I really use and really like and only in context to the things I’m already excited to share with you.

How do you make the most of this blog?

I want this to be as fun of an experience for you as I think it’s gonna be for me.

So, to get the most out of this, do the following things…

1. Join my email community. I share here first because this is where my closest peeps hang.

2. Make sure you’re following me on Instagram. I like IG. I hope you do too!

3. Click on my affiliate links when they interest you…it’s free, I may make some cash, and if I have a discount code too, you’ll save some of yours too!

4. Share blog posts, IG posts, or reels you love so your friends can love them too.

In Conclusion

So yea, that’s it for now.

Welcome! I’m really glad you’re here, and thanks so much for being a part of this journey. It means the world to me!

This Lifestyle Blogger will see you soon in the next post!

Oh, but before you go, in the comments, tell me who you are and what you’re excited about in this season of life…and bonus points if you can tell me what the title of this post is a reference to!
